Chapter 1 and 'Sleep' Reflections

  1. I tried going to sleep peacefully. This is not my way. I have always hated going to sleep. Usually I fall asleep watching tv or reading. I don't fall asleep; I pass out while doing something. So I tried falling asleep. It really was a matter of spiritual discipline. I consciously trusted God to be with me as I put out all the noise and went to sleep. It is a little thing, but it is not the way I have done going to sleep ever in my life. I think this is progress. Blessings to all the fellow travelers. Eddie

  2. I've taken to falling asleep in a similar way in the past couple of years. I haven't been able to get the 9 hours of sleep recommended by the book, but I'm aiming at not preoccupying myself with books and computer things as a way of busying myself to sleep. I think the work it takes to simply do nothing and be still will be a good discipline for me.
